The future of Painting
Hecker in his new series breaks away from his ususal painting tradition. He used to have old, amateur photograps presenting everyday activities as a starting point. Now, the main theme of his works is the artist and his art. His new series is more like a sequence of conceptual paintings, l’art pour l’art works, but beside the self-reflexive touch they contain a line of strange symbols and a typical Heckerish humour. As always, the title is an important part of the work, as eg. in „Troubled visitors fight in the museum”, where we actually see a group of well dressed men punching each other between well-known art works.
