The Existential Space of Virtuality

Erika Deák Gallery is presenting two exciting artistic program at its last show of the season. We will shown the latest works by Zsofia Kereszetes, whose art is known about its stunning formal appearance and about the unnusual materials, while Andrea Tivadar, who represents the newest generation of abstract painters, uses the language of the traditional medium of painting. They both interested in the important questions of our present days, like how virtuality makes an impact on reality, or the egzoticism of networks or the users experience, and also the possible stream-ways of information, wormholes or the accelerated society.
Zsófia Keresztes is not unknown for the Hungarian audience, as she exhibited several times in Erika Deak Gallery and many other places in Budapest, like Trafó Gallery, Stúdió Gallery, Atelie pro Arts, Art+Text Gallery. The master of shaping efemer materials operates with layered symbols in her works. She’s driven by mitological and urban legends, while she reflects the reproductive generational questions of the consumer culture as well. She uses plexi, PVC, artificial leather, even the package of technical devices. Her connected joints objects and motive-systems creates an utopical vision about the culture of virtuality.
Andrea Tivadar finished her studies at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj Napoca, Romania. She represents the new way of abstract expressionism. Her spectacular large scale canvases are breezy, but controlled at the same time. She is inspired by modernist traditions, but she already developed her own language. She contrast the formal elements with exploited, seemingly uncontrolled parts. The paintings operates with forms, structures and vivid colours, level our interest into the egsitencial space of virtuality.
