While fashion itself is a form of art, many contemporary designers reach for inspiration to fine art and work together with artists when creating a collection. The Erika Deák Gallery is delighted to announce its season closing exhibition, a collaboration between New York based actress / artist, Erika Marozsán, and the renowned fashion designer group, Je Suis Belle.
After many film roles, theater performances and records, Marozsán turned to a new kind of speaking, that is stitching, in 2015. Throught her delicate textile sewings, she found a new way of story telling. Her little, square cut fabrics remind us to frames, to film stills. It is all very personal, almost like a diary, stories of womanhood, of motherhood, still lifes of empty rooms appear. Some textiles exist individually, while some are sewed together to reveal a larger, more complex world. These delicate embroidments insired the Je Suis Belle designer couple’s latest collection.
Je Suis Bell was founded in 2005 by Dalma Dévényi and Tibor Kiss. They became one of the leading fashion brands of Hungary in the last couple of years and has been also recognized internationally. They often incorporate tranditional techniques and folk art in their collections, and very often collaborate with artist.
Marozsán’s individual textile works and the dresses born from this collaboration are first shown in the Erika Deák Gallery.
