About the Artist
Zsuzsa Moizer is primarily known for her watercolor and oil paintings, but occasionally she also creates sculptures and installations. The best approach to her characteristically tender images is probably through the topics of women’s search for identity, and gender roles. Moizer's works can be seen as series of self-portraits, her paintings and drawings are a portrays of an intense inner journey, questioning sexuality, life and death. In her very personal, intimate paintings, we meet her sadly soft, vulnerable bodies. After her last series of landscapes, she is now returning to her own body, still reminiscent of the world of landscapes, but now she takes us to the lands of the soul. Moizer's figures are transparent and soft, even the highly contoured bodies on her drawings are lost in a cavalcade of interweaving lines. The faces and the bodies are generally depicted with different attention, there is a palpable tension between the details shown and those kept hidden. In our age, where everything is digital and there is little escape from mass media images, Moizer's exhibition is a little island of magic, her art conveying the thrill of sensually capturing the moment and the joy of being present in true reality.
